When it comes to noise-canceling headphones, Bose has a well-earned reputation. They're known for producing top-tier, wireless over-ear headphones with advanced active noise-canceling (ANC) technology, making them a staple choice for audiophiles.

Their catalog contains two main contenders: the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700, known simply as the 'Bose 700', and the Bose QuietComfort 45, or 'Bose QC45'.

Arriving in 2019, the Bose 700 model dazzled users with its elegant design, snug fit, and best-in-class ANC. This luxury model is an extension of Bose's long-running QuietComfort line. But Bose didn't stop there. In September 2021, they introduced the Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones, as a successor to the QuietComfort 35 II launched in 2018.

These newer headphones didn't replace the 700; instead, they stand beside them in Bose's headphone line-up. So, how do these two models compare? Let's break it down.

DESIGN - Bose QuietComfort 45 vs Bose 700
The Bose QC 45 largely retains the design of the first QuietComfort models. These headphones have always been praised for their comfort and practical design, with modern updates keeping them contemporary.

On the other hand, the Bose 700 introduces a sleeker, classier style, with a slender design and an elegant combination of 'invisible' hinges and a stainless steel headband.

The QC 45 weighs slightly less than the 700, 240g vs 250g, and folds into a compact form, making it ideal for travel. The 700, while also suitable for travel, only folds flat due to its hinge-free design.

FEATURES - Bose QuietComfort 45 vs Bose 700
What about Battery Life?
While the Bose 700 Headphones offer a respectable 20-hour battery life with Bluetooth and ANC turned on, the QuietComfort 45 takes the lead with a 24-hour battery life.

The QC 45 also charges quicker, providing 2.5 hours of playback from a five-minute charge, compared to the 700's two hours of playback from a 15-minute charge.

What about Noise-Cancelling?
Both models feature powerful active noise-canceling technology, but there are some differences. The Bose 700 provides eight microphones and an adjustable intensity level, offering greater customization.

Despite the QC 45 having fewer microphones and only two preset levels of noise cancellation, they provide highly effective noise cancellation, arguably the best in the business.

What about Controls?
When it comes to controls, the QC 45 uses physical buttons, including a switch to toggle between noise-canceling and transparency modes.

The Bose 700, reflecting its modern aesthetic, offers intuitive touch controls, built-in Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and features Spotify Tap for easy control of your music.

What about Sound Quality?
Both headphones deliver excellent sound performance, demonstrating Bose's longstanding expertise in the noise-canceling arena. However, the Bose 700 provides a more detailed and dynamic sound, while the QC 45 delivers a slightly fuller sound thanks to Bose's new TriPort vents.

What's the ViewPoint?
Choosing between the Bose 700 and QuietComfort 45 ultimately depends on your personal priorities. If dependable noise cancellation, longer battery life, and physical on-cup controls are your priorities, the QC 45 is a strong contender.

However, if you're attracted to a stylish design, robust features, and slightly superior sound quality, the Bose 700 might be the choice for you. Either way, with a pair of Bose headphones, you're assured of a premium listening experience.
